• Current Status: Active. As of March 2026, the Galaxy A16 is receiving the March 2026 security update. It has already been upgraded from Android 14 to Android 16 (One UI 8.0) and is expected to receive One UI 8.5 later this year. Samsung has guaranteed 6 years of OS and security updates for the 5G model, supporting it until 2030.

💡 Key Differences (4G vs 5G)

While the two versions look identical, the A16 5G is the superior choice for longevity:

• Update Policy: The 5G model gets 6 years of updates, while the 4G model typically receives 4 years.

• Storage Speed: The 5G model uses UFS 2.2 (faster app loading), whereas the 4G model uses slower eMMC 5.1 storage.

   

• Headphone Jack: Note that the A16 series has removed the 3.5mm jack, so you will need USB-C headphones or a Bluetooth connection.
